OBN LAUNCHES HUGE INTERACTIVE VIDEO GAME WITH ROGERS WIRELESS
In this pre-Christmas sales push for the new Rogers Wireless BlackBerry Pearl Flip smartphones, Rogers put the phones directly into the hands of consumers by inviting them to play, in real time, a giant interactive video game at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto. This was a first ever promotional digital signage application of its kind in Canada.

The video board featured avatar ‘hands’ that reached up to grab at the new smartphones that appeared to be falling from the sky. OBN obtained exclusive rights for Dundas Square to the ‘Dial to Play’ software from iGotcha Media, developed by MegaPhone Inc, which allowed participants to directly interact with the giant digital screen using a mobile telephone interface and voice recognition. Players would yell “flip” into the phones to activate their avatar to win points and prizes from Rogers. An adjacent Tri-vision poster, headlined “How Your Kids Hope The Holidays Unfold”, further promoted the new smartphones.

"We had a much higher level of engagement with the product which made it a very powerful initiative!" said Einat Velichover, Account Supervisor at Publicis Toronto. The campaign also attracted significant media attention with many stories appearing in both the marketing and business press.

This is a prime example of how OBN leverages technology to reach and engage target audiences for its clients and reflects the dynamic promotional capabilities of digital out of home.
